Expensive Black Indonesian Chickens
If you are looking for high dollar chickens to flaunt or brag about, this is one of the very expensive breeds! These can cost up to $5,000.00 a pair!
These hens lay about 60 cream-colored eggs their first year. A typical laying cycle lasts for about 20 to 30 eggs, then the hen will stop laying for three to six months. The eggs are unusually large in proportion to the size of the hen’s body. Photo by: Jeffrey Pamungkas
The Black Indonesian Chickens are completely black: black plumage with a greenish shine like the June Beetle in the United States, black legs and toe nails, black beak and tongue, black comb and wattles, black meat and bones and even dark blood (not black) and black organs. The roosters weigh 4.5-5.5 lbs and the hens from 3.3–4.4 lb.
The hens are non sitters (They are not broody) and produce 80 off white eggs with a slight pink tint per year of 1.6 oz weight.
There are many rumours that the blood of the Black Indonesian Chickens is black this is not true as it would be impossible.
These Black Indonesian Chickens are very desirable in India as they are believed to hold mystical powers!
Chickens were cross bred for many years to develope breeds with beautiful colors for ceremonial purposes.
